Another snow lover has joined the ROOMBOSS team! Say hello to Ha-Ly, our new business operations analyst from New Zealand!

With a background in computer science and six years of experience in business intelligence consulting, Ha-Ly also has hands-on experience working in the ski industry.

His snowboarding journey began in Canada, but rumours of Japan’s legendary powder eventually brought him to Niseko, where his experience in tech and the ski industry led him to RB.

When he’s not working, you’ll find Ha-Ly enjoying the outdoors, playing volleyball or learning Japanese.

Last Friday night, team members from Niseko, Furano and Shimane made their way to Sapporo for a long-overdue get-together with the Sapporo crew.

What started as a lovely evening of good food, great company and plenty of laughter soon turned into a 二次会 (second party) karaoke session. And let’s just say… RB might have a few hidden superstars! 🌟

Special shoutout to Ikechi for bringing Sebastian the crab to life with “Under the Sea”, Brendon for absolutely rocking “Don’t Stop Me Now”, and Calvin for pouring his heart and soul into his much-anticipated “My Way”! 😂

On 4 October, ROOMBOSS team members Shun, Noah, Patrick, Calvin and Tomoki headed to Ebetsu for the 2026 Fun Run!

With great weather and a scenic course, the day was made even better by having teammates there to cheer each other on throughout the run and at the finish line. Between the enthusiastic runners, organizers and an appearance from the local Nopporo mascot, there was plenty of energy to keep everyone going.

But perhaps the real reward waiting at the finish line? A warm bowl of tonjiru (rich pork soup).

A great day of running, cheering and spending time together outside the office. Who knew cardio could be this much fun?

Not every ROOMBOSS trip is about work — this one was about love.

On 5 September, Julian, Ricardo and Joanne travelled to Manila for a very special occasion: the wedding of our colleagues Franz and Angelica.

It was a wonderful opportunity to witness and celebrate their love, while also experiencing a Filipino wedding filled with amazing food, thoughtful details and plenty of fun. Guests were invited to draw their own faces on a large canvas, while professional artists created personalized watercolour paintings of guests throughout the celebration.

And of course, no gathering would be complete without a little unexpected entertainment. Julian was called up on stage for a boys-versus-girls singing competition, where his rock ’n’ roll rendition of Dancing Queen quickly got the whole room cheering (not too many tomatoes were thrown).

More than anything, we were incredibly happy to be there to celebrate such an important moment with Franz and Angelica. Thank you for letting us be part of such a special day, and congratulations once again from all of us at RB! 💛

PARIS — There’s something special about reconnecting with familiar faces in a place far from where your story together began.

This week, the RB team proved that true camaraderie knows no borders. Julian, Joanne, Lyna, and former ROOMBOSS team member (and continued technical advisor) Romain reunited in Paris for a memorable dinner alongside their partners.

The evening was filled with delicious French cuisine, plenty of laughter, a few adventurous menu choices, and even some ROOMBOSS talk along the way.

It was heartwarming to share good food and great conversations together again in a completely different corner of the world. Moments like these remind us that ROOMBOSS is more than just work; it’s the connections, friendships, and shared memories created along the way.

Mondays have a reputation. Luckily, ours had Korean food.

This week, the ROOMBOSS Sapporo team gathered for a Korean dinner after work, turning what could have been an ordinary Monday into an evening full of laughter, great food, and even better company.

Moments like these remind us that ROOMBOSS is more than just the projects we work on together. Taking time to connect outside the office helps us build stronger relationships and create the kind of team culture that makes coming to work enjoyable.

Safe to say, nobody left with a case of the Monday blues.

A recent graduate from Hokkaido University, Joanne is originally from Malaysia and speaks Chinese, English, and Japanese. She’ll be supporting our marketing efforts while also providing assistance in system localization with her language skills.

Outside of work, Joanne enjoys diving, snorkeling, traveling, and spending time with her mischievous rabbit, Pepper (yes, she’s a proud bunny mom).

We are thrilled to introduce the newest member of the ROOMBOSS Customer Success team, Jade!

Originally from Paris, France, Jade brings experience in back-office operations, where she worked as a sales assistant and support team member in the travel sector.

Jade’s journey to Japan began at university, where she majored in Japanese. Drawn by the powder snow, dry climate, and cool summers, she chose Hokkaido as her new home. Outside of work, she practices Taiko, enjoys watching anime, and is happiest with a video game controller in hand.

We’re happy to welcome Hirokatsu to ROOMBOSS as a new member of our Java development team.

Originally from the Philippines, Hirokatsu has two years of experience in the tech industry, working on projects involving Japanese clients. His work has mainly focused on system migration projects and their documentation.

While working in Japan wasn’t originally in his plans, one visit to Sapporo changed everything. Hirokatsu fell in love with the city’s quiet atmosphere, convenience, and of course, the delicious food. Outside of work, he enjoys playing video games and basketball, and is also working hard to improve his Japanese.

At ROOMBOSS, a great team is not just about working well together. It is about genuinely enjoying each other’s company.

While our days are focused on building the best tools for the travel industry, our evenings often tell a different story. Team members from both the Sapporo and Niseko offices often gather for some friendly (but fierce!) games.

One of those arenas is card games, with the team swapping travel tech talk for spells and mana. Seeing everyone laughing and competing around the same table is exactly the kind of “magic” that makes our team culture special.

Bouldering is also a team favorite. Always plenty of chalk, even more cheering, and some post-climb muscle soreness, taking our teamwork to a literal new level.

And in winter, Hokkaido itself becomes our playground. With world-class snow right on our doorstep, skiing and snowboarding are a natural extension of team life, whether it’s a quick after-work run or a full day exploring the fresh powder.

Sharing these experiences gives you a little peek into the heart of our office. While we take pride in the software we build, we take equal pride in the relationships we grow. Finding a team you actually want to hang out with after hours is rare, and it’s something we never take for granted. That authentic bond is what makes our team culture supportive and our work-life balance feel genuine.
