No Pain, No Gain? More Like No Mud, No Glory!

No Pain, No Gain? More Like No Mud, No Glory!

On November 15, 2025, our very own Julian traded his laptop for a headband to take on the Spartan Sprint Okinawa at Toyosaki Seaside Park.

Competitors tackled 20 obstacles across a 5km course, proving they have the “mud-crawling” skills to handle just about anything. This “work hard, play hard” spirit is exactly what we value here at RB.

Not only did he survive the course, Julian crushed it, bringing home 2nd place in his division!

Ricardo’s Adventure in the Himalayas

Ricardo’s Adventure in the Himalayas

At RoomBoss, we love a good adventure, and our colleague Ricardo recently took that spirit to new heights (literally and figuratively! Local mountain hikes don’t quite match his exploits). Ricardo recently returned from an unforgettable trip to Nepal, where he completed part of the legendary Everest Base Camp trek.

Starting in Lukla, Ricardo’s journey took him through Monjo, Namche Bazaar, Khumjung, Phakding, and eventually Kathmandu. Along the way, he was surrounded by breathtaking Himalayan views, an experience he says was the most memorable part of the trip.

Of course, no trek is complete without trying the local food. The staple meal is Dal Bhat, and Ricardo also sampled Tongba, a traditional drink that’s technically a beer but with a twist: you pour hot water into it before drinking.

Like many Himalayan adventures, the trip came with a little unpredictability. Flights between Ramechhap and Lukla depend heavily on the weather, and Ricardo’s was delayed for a day. His tip for future trekkers: leave a few extra days in your schedule.

Welcome back, Ricardo, and thanks for sharing a little piece of the Himalayas with us!

RoomBoss Team Dinner in Sapporo

RoomBoss Team Dinner in Sapporo

Earlier this month, RoomBoss team members from across Japan, including Niseko, Sapporo, Furano, Hakuba, Izu, and Shimane, gathered in Sapporo for a team dinner. Although we collaborate daily from different locations, sharing a meal around the same table offered a rare and meaningful opportunity to connect face-to-face.

The evening also marked a significant milestone: the 10-year work anniversaries of Dan and Cesar, two of RoomBoss’s earliest contributors. Their leadership and long-standing commitment helped lay the foundation of the company and continue to guide its growth today.

At RoomBoss, we take pride in being a distributed, multicultural team built on shared purpose and mutual trust. Our ability to work seamlessly across distance isn’t just part of our culture. It’s one of our greatest strengths.

As one team, we remain committed to continuously improving our system.

Outside of work, Tomoki enjoys driving and maintaining his beloved old Jimny. He’s also a big fan of camping, and plans to modify his car for even more outdoor adventures.

We’re thrilled to have Tomoki on board and look forward to the energy and expertise he’ll bring to the team. Welcome, Tomoki!
