RoomBoss Attends Rakuten AI Optimism

RoomBoss attended Rakuten AI Optimism, a three-day event held July 30–August 1 at Pacifico Yokohama, showcasing Rakuten Group’s latest AI innovations. The event featured keynote presentations, as well as hands-on demonstrations of AI in action, sparking ideas for how emerging technologies can enhance industries and services across many sectors. During the event, RoomBoss met with Rakuten Group teams to explore upcoming system integrations aimed at delivering more powerful and impactful solutions to our partners and customers. We’re delighted to welcome Calvin to our backend development team! Originally from Wisconsin, USA, Calvin brings a strong background in software development together with international experience from his time on the JET Program in Iwate. After starting his career as a Java developer, he broadened his skills through cross-cultural work and communication abroad, giving him a unique perspective that will be a valuable addition to the team. Outside of work, Calvin is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys camping, hiking, and snowboarding. He’s also a fan of tabletop gaming and spends time painting Warhammer miniatures. We’re excited to have him on board and look forward to what we’ll build together. Welcome to the team, Calvin!

SKIDATA “Innovate & Connect” Event @ Osaka Expo

We recently joined SKIDATA’s “Innovate & Connect” event at Expo 2025 Osaka. It was a valuable chance to share ideas and build stronger ties within the tourism industry. A key highlight was SKIDATA’s new “sMove Wave for all” gate system, designed for year-round use. This points to exciting growth in all-season resort operations. The Austrian Embassy also gave a memorable keynote, celebrating the strong partnership between Japan and Austria. We appreciated SKIDATA’s warm hospitality, from a delicious Austrian meal to a guided tour of their pavilion. RoomBoss integrates with SKIDATA’s gate system and supports online lift ticket and POS sales, contributing to seamless, all-season resort management. We look forward to continuing our partnership and helping move the tourism industry forward.

Earlier this month, RoomBoss team members from across Japan, including Niseko, Sapporo, Furano, Hakuba, Izu, and Shimane, gathered in Sapporo for a team dinner. Although we collaborate daily from different locations, sharing a meal around the same table offered a rare and meaningful opportunity to connect face-to-face. The evening also marked a significant milestone: the 10-year work anniversaries of Dan and Cesar, two of RoomBoss’s earliest contributors. Their leadership and long-standing commitment helped lay the foundation of the company and continue to guide its growth today. At RoomBoss, we take pride in being a distributed, multicultural team built on shared purpose and mutual trust. Our ability to work seamlessly across distance isn’t just part of our culture. It’s one of our greatest strengths. As one team, we remain committed to continuously improving our system.

We’re excited to welcome Tomoki as the newest member of our Accounting & HR team! Tomoki joins us with a strong background in accounting and finance. As a former consultant at an accounting firm, he supported multiple companies through audits and financial operations, building a solid foundation as an accounting professional. At RoomBoss, Tomoki will be taking on both accounting and HR responsibilities, helping to strengthen our internal operations as our team continues to grow. Outside of work, Tomoki enjoys driving and maintaining his beloved old Jimny. He’s also a big fan of camping, and plans to modify his car for even more outdoor adventures. We’re thrilled to have Tomoki on board and look forward to the energy and expertise he’ll bring to the team. Welcome, Tomoki!

We were delighted to attend the grand opening of Rhythm Japan’s new MTB shop in Hakuba. The launch marks an exciting step forward in the continued development of Hakuba’s green season and year-round tourism. The shop is beautifully designed with riders in mind. It offers high-quality rentals, top-tier gear, and expert advice, providing everything needed to enjoy Hakuba’s growing network of mountain biking trails. The event brought together members of the local community, tourism operators, and outdoor enthusiasts. It was encouraging to see the strong support and shared passion for strengthening Hakuba’s summer offering. Congratulations to the entire Rhythm Japan team on this important milestone. This month, the RoomBoss team visited the beautiful Hakuba to reconnect in person with many of our valued partners, including ski resorts, accommodation providers, ski schools, rental shops and activity operators. The visit provided an excellent opportunity to share updates, gather feedback and better understand the evolving needs of businesses in the region as preparations ramp up for the coming season. These conversations are an essential part of our commitment to supporting the growth and success of the Hakuba tourism community. With a team member already based in Hakuba year-round, we continue to prioritise building strong, collaborative relationships and offering hands-on support where it matters most. A heartfelt thank you to all our partners for their time, hospitality and continued trust. We are excited about what the upcoming season holds and look forward to continued success together.
